Here's a great story for you! Shortly after we opened we received a beautiful Nina Ricci vintage dress. The tags were intact and the dress was in excellent condition.... except for one the straps. The silver lurex had come updone, but we were happy to find a long length of extra lurex which could easily replace the existing strap. I'm constantly amazed at the price on some of these designer dresses and this dress was no exception. The retail cost was $1890.00 -- that's right, nearly two thousand dollars! Because the strap needed some attention we marked the dress 90% off, so $189.00. There were several lookers in the store, but no buyers. Finally, we listed it on eBay and received a bid for $310.00 on that dress. Of course, we were thrilled, sold the dress and the buyer was excited. Bottom line, had someone bought the dress for $189.00 they would have gotten an additional 20% off making the cost $151, they could have sold the dress on eBay and made more than twice that back.
If you've purchased something from our store and sold it for more than you paid we would love to hear your story!
